BH Parent Support Specialist – MRSS
Schedule: (Part Time, Benefits Eligible) Training: 4- 8hr shifts. After training 2-12hr and 2-6hr shifts

Responsibilities:
- Provides emotional support and promotes empowerment for caregivers involved in mental health crisis. Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team within the community supporting crisis intervention and de-escalation.
- Makes contact (phone call/face to face) within 24 hours of identified crisis to begin building rapport/engagement and identifies the needs and goals of the caregiver. Provides non-judgmental emotional connection throughout and stabilization phases to caregiver.
- Promotes the well-being of the family system by supporting positive approaches and methods for addressing day to day needs, including the caregiver’s own needs for self-care. Models’ resilience, recovery, hope, and decreases sense of isolation.
- Provides informational and educational support and assists with navigation of educational, mental health, developmental disability services, and other community services/organizations.
- Models’ effective communication skills and advocacy to assist parents/guardians in communicating needs and concerns to multi-disciplinary team and systems.
- Increases sense of self-efficacy and encouraging parental activation by helping parent to understand needs of child/family, accessing natural supports, and navigating community resources.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education:
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma
Experience:
- Knowledge of Family-Centered Care principles and resources, required
- Firsthand experience as a primary caregiver for a child with a mental health diagnosis & has been involved in mental health services
